July 8th 2010 Summer fun with the Tui's

About 1/2 hour from our Mesa home, is the "Superstition Mountain Lost Dutchman Museum". Jacob Waltz took the secret of the mine with him to his grave in 1891. And today treasure hunters still scour the region! I got a picture along side of Elvis inside the Memorial Chapel which figured prominently in the movie Charro. Devina, Emma and Eli walked up and saw a mill that early miners extracted gold from quartz. The Apacheland Movie Ranch Barn was spectacular to see. It was my favorite.

Next we toured "The Goldfield Ghost Town" where we went underground into the historic Mammoth Gold Mine. We then went into the mystery shack where we could not stand without holding onto something. Usually a railing. After that we strolled through the heart of a historic town. We had a lot of fun even though it was 110 ish degrees! Pizza and ice cream back at our home finished this fun day.

6-9-10 Late Night Swim

It was still in the 90's when Wayne and I were walking home from a Chinese Sundae Potluck tonight (plus entertainment) held in the ballroom of our clubhouse. We have to walk past the pool and hot tub. After getting home, I just HAD to put on my swimming suit and walk back to the pool. It was so warm. When I arrived I was the only one there, and then 3 others came, then two more, then one more. I could not believe how wonderful it felt. Oh, the hot tub was pretty great, also. I dislike the beating sun on me in the day, so I think the evenings will be my thing. I swam (or paddled, walked, etc.) from 8:30 till 9:30 p.m. I did not want to get out! DO YOU BELIEVE IT? Now I am wide awake.......... lol

6-7-10 HOT, HOT, HOT!

Today it reached 107 degrees here in our part of the world.

Yesterday, after church, (108 degrees) my old 1996 Taurus wagon barely made it home. Sitting in the sun for 3 hours probably did not help? The steering wheel was so hot I had to wait a few minutes to be able to touch it.

Anyway, I had just made the turn into our community and had just got past the guard house when all power just disappeared. I turned the car off and then on again and thank goodness it got me under our carport.

Today Wayne followed me to CVS and the same thing happened in their parking lot. So after we purchased what we went for, Wayne drove it home and it started to loose power on him but he said he just put his foot down and it got him home. Now we have to decide what we need to do next. One can't be stranded in this heat. Saw a couple on TV just sweating waiting for the tow truck. The recommendation is to always have WATER in your car and a snack or two. Just being prepared, really. We have to get back into that habit.

(You should have seen me drive the Suzuki home ... lol ... except for the poor guy following me.) I jerked all the way into 2nd gear in the middle of the intersection, and then drove slowly there after. I can't drive that car, I am so short that the clutch and my foot don't go well together. I feel like I have to sit sideways when I need to use it. I had flashbacks learning to drive a stick shift years ago. I love my automatic transmission!

6/5/10 O'Malley in the kitchen with me!

Just wanted to share our beloved pet with you. Even though O'Malley is unfriendly to the female adults in our family, (I have no idea why) he really is a good pet for us. He especially is fond of me, and he follows me from room to room, still. Just like a toddler. AND I LOVE IT!

He has always treated our grandchildren under the age of 6 kindly, too. He loves to play with whom ever will give him the time. Emma and Eli seem to be able to get him to play with them when we visit them and he is nice to them.

5-31-10 Memorial Day Fun at the Hanchett Home

Wayne and I arrived at Donna and Mike's home in Peoria, AZ around 11:30 a.m. I unpacked the eggs for deviled eggs and the rainbow jello I had made the night before for the children. The chicken and London broil were marinating in the fridge. Dori, Brian and Bryce arrived soon after. They unpacked their Red Velvet Cake (which was sooo good!) After a while, most of the family went outside to have a swim in the pool. We hit near 100 degrees. I could see the pool from where I was putting together the deviled eggs. I took these pictures after I was done. It was a most beautiful day. We had a lot of fun, ate a delicious BBQ, watched a couple of family movies, even. Wayne and I left around 8:30 p.m. (so did the Pasero family.) We both had a safe drive home. A very enjoyable day. Thanks, Donna and Mike!! (put your curser on the slide to see the captions)

5/21/10 DON'T FAINT - JUST A NOTE!

I AM ALIVE.......I AM SORRY THAT I HAVE NOT POSTED ANYTHING. I NEED SOMEONE TO COME AND RUN ME THROUGH WHAT I SHOULD DO AGAIN. IT HAS BEEN TOO LONG. (8 MONTHS SINCE MY LAST POST) WHERE DO I START? BUT, I WILL POST AGAIN, PROMISE.

8-29 End of August Memories

We are lucky to be able to sit in our carport in the shade and watch some of the yearly "Airshow". I like it because the noise is not so bad and no crowds to contend with. The Pasero's came over this day and shared the event.

HOUSE SOLD

Tuesday August 25th (three weeks after putting the "for sale" sign out), Carol Finley from California came through our home and fell in love with it. I saw it in her eyes that she would make an offer. And less than 3 hours after viewing it her realtor was back in our home with all the paperwork! She came by with her daughter-in-law the next morning to show "her new home".

We were relieved, but at the same time I did shed a tear. I have loved being here in this neighborhood and love all my neighbors. A door is closing on this chapter of our life, and a new door will have to be opened. A little scary at our age.... The inspection passed, with 3 minor fixits. So we are in full swing of packing!!! And what a chore it has turned out to be. We have to be out by the 1st of October.

8-22 GARAGE SALE

Our neighborhood has a garage sale every other year on a Friday and Saturday. Dori came and participated this time. I was glad that she was with me, more enjoyable for me. The stuff was in our carport. We both did pretty well. At the last 3 hours Dianna brought some stuff over and even some of it sold!

8-14 and 8-15 August Memories when Hanchett's were in town.

The Hanchett family had a short visit this summer. We had a lot of fun seeing them again, but it was not long enough. We don't mind sharing the family with Mike's Dad and family, though. The children were quite cute showing us things they could do. It was an enjoyable couple of days.

Our dining room has become the "packing room". I have collected boxes, bubble wrap, and tape. My neighbors have even saved their newspapers for me. I hope I never have to do this again!!!

8-5-09 Day 2: All painted

Day two and all the caulking was painted all around the house. It looks quite nice now. You know how paint wears, especially near the ground level? I did not take pics of the back of our shed. I had him do some scraping and painting there, also.

8-4-09 1st day: Simple Home Repairs

Getting your home ready for selling requires some repairs, yard work, etc. Our handyman caulked and trimmed some bushes and trees on the first day.

8-5-09 Bryce being tended at Nana's House

Bryce was dropped off this day by his Daddy around 8:30 a.m. Bryce's day care lady was on vacation. It was a delightful morning for Nana and Poppa as he was investigating the whole house and even chased O'Malley a few times. We walked around the outside of the house 4 times as well. He got to watch the garbage truck and the driver even waved to him. I think he had a fun time. He made us laugh a lot that morning!

Last of July Memories

July was a fun month, as seen by some of my previous picture posts. This was taken on the last day in July. Bryce goes for the boots pretty quickly when he visits. I enjoyed picking him up from his day care a few times, then taking him home and waiting for Mommy to come and put him down for his nap. Makes me feel so good when around the kitchen and into the living room of the day care lady's home he appears and then shouts "NANA" with the biggest grin on his face! Wayne and I also enjoyed visiting with our friends on some Friday evenings eating pizza at a local Pizza place. We invited the missionaries over for dinner the last Sat. in July. They were really nice. It has been a good month. But, too hot!!!!!

Mike's Birthday Party

Family and friends of Mike got together on Sunday July 12th to celebrate Mike's 22nd birthday! (His actual birthday was on the 10th). We enjoyed each other's company and ate some great food. I didn't get many good pics, but hope you like these.
